Why Daily Deals and One Deal at a Time Deals?
By offering single item, limited deals you can capture the attention of your most dedicated customers and move closeout inventory while creating excitement about your brand. Made popular by the Home Shopping Network show our parents watched, the Daily Deal and One Deal at a Time marketing model was proven long before the introduction to eCommerce via popular sites like Woot.com and Whiskeymilitia.com. By blending the HSN model with eCommerce, mCommerce and social tools, Dealo creates a constant, value added interaction between you and your customers.
Are Daily Deals and One Deal at a Time Deals proven business models?
Don't believe us? Check out what people had to say about the two business models.
  • October of 2010, Bargain-hungry shoppers are hooked. "Daily deals" websites including Groupon, LivingSocial and Screamin Daily Deals have attracted millions of users, a lot of them young, urban and tech-savvy. Many say they love the excitement of waking up in the morning, checking the latest deal online and deliberating with friends on Facebook or Twitter about whether to buy — all while the clock ticks down.
"It's totally addictive," said Yi Zhang, a 24-year-old from West Los Angeles who has spent more than $1,000 on dozens of Daily Deals in the last year. "Sometimes I press refresh at midnight if I'm awake."
  • In August 2009, Backcountry.com’s Chief Marketing Office, Dustin Robertson, was interviewed by Transworld Business and asked, "What percentage of your business is made up of ODAT sales?" Dustin responded, "ODAT is about 25 percent of our gross revenue."
  • In August 2009, Backcountry.com’s Chief Marketing Office, Dustin Robertson, was interviewed by Transworld Business, and asked "What percentage of your business is made up of ODAT sales?" Dustin responded "ODAT is about 25 percent of our gross revenue."

In March 2009, Outside magazine wrote that “Having sold more than 10,000 avalanche beacons, Backcountry now employs 940 people, stocks more than 35,000 products, and is on track to rake in $300 million in sales this year, recession be damned.

Oh, snap! Based on that information, it sounds like Backcountry.com may be generating about $75 million a year in revenue, from ODAT sales. That’s awesome, and a great testimonial to the “One Deal at a Time” business model.

By the way, Backcountry.com DOES NOT use Dealo. Backcountry.com DOES NOT endorse Dealo. Backcountry.com IS NOT affiliated with Dealo. Backcountry.com DOES NOT have a relationship or partnership with Dealo.

We just love to brag about data like this, to exemplify the success of the “One Deal at a Time” business model, in general. Way to go Backcountry! (Dustin, email us, we’d love for you guys to consider using Dealo!)

Setup & Customization

Can my store run Group Buying deals, Daily Deals and One Deal at a Time Deals?
Yup!!! Your Dealo store can run all three.
Example: You can run a Group Buying Deal first, then a Daily Deal.
How do I manage all these single deals?
Managing your deals is easy when utilizing the administrative console of your Dealo site. From anywhere with an internet connection you can add product deals to your deal queue. On the fly, you can easily start a deal, stop a deal, or change the order your deals will show. Once you’ve filled the queue you can also simply let the deals run. Our system will manage the time each deal runs, the inventory of each item, and the order that deals are shown. You have all the flexibility you want in one easy console.
Can I make my Dealo site look like my main eCommerce site?
Yes. For example, if your domain is example.com and you want to use a subdomain of store or www, you would need to add a CNAME record of store or www to your example.com domain. Then, you can add store.example.com or www.example.com as a Dealo.com custom domain. Within your administration settings you have the ability to change many of the design features of your DEALO site. You will be able to change colors, text, help pages, email templates, and much more. We realize the importance of maintaining the consistency of your brand and have provided the tools to help you create a seamless connection with your existing site’s look and feel.
What do I need in order to start selling?
The minimum requirements to get your store going are few. You will need to setup at least one payment option, like PayPal. You will need to setup at least one shipping option such as “standard ground”. Lastly, of course, you will need a product to sell. A store can be up with a product available to sell in as little as five minutes.
Can I use my own domain name with my shop?
Yes. Once your Dealo site is setup you will have the option to run your site on your own custom domain, as a sub-domain on Dealo.com, or as a sub-domain to your domain. The flexibility is there, the choice is yours.
Do I need to be a designer to change the look of my site?
No. The design customization tools we provide require no special designer skills. If you can change fonts and colors in email, you can change the design of your Dealo store.
Do I have to integrate Google Analytics or Chartbeat with my Dealo store?
Nope. Dealo does not require users to add any of the two analytic tools, however the tools help users measure ROI, stay up to date and keep their store organized.

For more sophisticated shipping integrations, you will also be able to export the details of your orders to a common file format.

Your Account

Is Dealo really free?
Yes. You may be asking yourself, “Why?” Our initial, off the cuff, response would likely be something like, "So that you can keep on paying your mortgage!" But, there’s more to it than that. We started developing “One Deal at a Time” store so that we could easily create and manage ODATs for ourselves in an efficient and scalable manner, and quickly realized that there is value in offering an on demand software as a service to others. In recognizing the opportunity that a Dealo could create for everyone, we decided to offer Dealo as a service. Since the Dealo team is made up of people that are not only actively working in ecommerce, but are also zealous about the industry, we really want to know what the community is looking for in this product and your opinions of Dealo, thus far.
